I made nearly as much money as I did doing merchant trading, and was leveling and gaining skills faster. The last game I started I traded *down* to a courier lugger and did mostly courier missions for the harbormaster.
I liked the brigantine until I got a polacre. The best small ship is a xebec, and I really like the polacre, basically a bigger xebec. I usually upgrade to a sloop when the storekeeper says my ship isn't big enough for his cargo hauling quest. If you like a story driven game, you'll probably love the Dutch Gambit.Īs for ships, the starting ship isn't all that bad, but I avoided combat in it. Hehe! 806 hours and almost none of it in the storyline. Would I like this game though, if I played Pirates of the Caribbean? I know I won't have the New Horizons mod, but even the vanilla game was fun with all its flaws. Here's to hoping Pirates of the Caribbean (Sea Dogs 2) ends up on Steam as well, although I highly doubt it, since there was a conflict between Bethesda and Akella or something. The PC version is even better because you have the New Horizons mod which basically makes the game a better version of Sid Mierers Pirates! Little while back I bought it again for PC through Amazon because Steam didn't have it. Actually published by Bethesda too while being developed by Akella. That game was an absolute gem on the old Xbox.
